Ableton Push 3 Interactive Installation

The Process

The Ableton Push 3 installation at Sónar+D was an exploration of how this instrument can move beyond sound into the realm of real-time visual performance.

Ableton asked me to create an interactive audio-visual environment where visitors could engage with the Push 3 through both music and movement. Using TouchDesigner, I developed a custom body-tracking system that detected each person as they stepped into the interaction space. Their silhouettes transformed into dynamic particle systems, which shifted and evolved according to the buttons, pads, and controls they activated on the Push 3.

Every change in position, pressure, and gesture reshaped the soundscape and visuals simultaneously, turning the Push 3 into a bridge between body, music, and image—a space where performance could be both heard and seen.
